Carousel Dinner Theater

Akron Ohio's Carousel Dinner Theater has “expect the unexpected” as its motto. Busy folks want to have a good time. Dinner theater is always an enjoyable experience.

Like many dinner theaters Carousel claims to be the largest professional dinner theater in America. Whether that boast is true or not, Carousel is amongst the top. Carousel hires members of the American Federation of Musicians, Actors Equity Association and Society of Directors and Choreographers. It's not just a matter of supporting unions. Using union talent helps to ensure a high quality show.

Born in a converted supermarket in 1973, Carousel moved to its current digs in 1988. People can see the show while enjoying the meal, or fore go the meal in favor of just taking in the show . Over the last few years the production quality has risen, attracting even more serious professionals from the New York theater business. Shows are now even better than ever.

”Wicked” has been a very popular play . This is a story that takes place before the Wizard of Oz and involves many of the witches in that world. From August to November of 2008 the Carousel urges theater patrons to see the “story that started it all,” the original story Wizard of Oz presented in a stage play. This production boasts a colorful Proscenium, which is the frame around the stage that rotates the different sets into place. This and other details of the play are discussed on Carousel's Wizard of Oz blog at http://carouseldinnertheatre.blogspot.com . Blogs are fairly new for plays.

The Carousel has hosted a lot of Broadway plays over time. In 2008 “the Odd Couple” played there. It has hosted many others including Footloose and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Here you can enjoy good food and Broadway without going to Broadway. 2009 will be a big season for the theater with classics like My Fair Lady and brand new plays like High School Musical.

Get a feel for New York elegance at the Carousel Dinner Theater. It's a lot of fun.
