It was in the year 1965 when a group of medical specialists from the University of Florida discovered the pioneering sports drink. This was done in order to encourage their athletes to fight the burden of tiredness and turn it into the best possible athletic performance enhancer without using performance-enhancing drugs banned by the FDA and sports leagues.

Green tea acts on two fronts: it increases antioxidants and anti-cancer agents in our blood, boosting our immune strength, while its regular use has proven to bring about weight loss. Recent research reports indicate that green tea contains fifty times more health benefits than Vitamin E and C supplements! Certain studies have also proved that drinking a cup of green tea every day for one year can cause a visible weight loss: up to five pounds a month!.

The Luna bar may have been the first obvious product marketed directly to women. Introduced in 1999, Luna bars are 100 percent natural and "contribute to women's nutrition" with ingredients such as green tea extract, nuts, and seeds. It is also fortified with folic acid, soy protein, and calcium-essential nutrients for a woman's daily nutritional needs. It was created to assist women to obtain more of the nutrients lacking in their current diets.

Preparing green Tea at home

The method you use for its preparation has huge effects on the actual green tea. Smaller tea leaves have better infusion and boils faster. Many people often use tea bags, even though loose leaves are more useful. To get the maximum out of tea bags in the longer run, they should be immersed on a continuous basis to extract maximum amounts of Polyphenols, which contain a high concentration of antioxidants.

When tea leaves are used, they should be completely immersed in hot water and not left floating on top. Short time durations lead to higher caffeine levels and low Polyphenols. Hence higher steeping times should be used to increase Polyphenols producing the best results.

Lastly, once any kind of sweetener is added to Green Tea, It totally kills off the whole dieting benefit of Green Tea. Be it Honey or normal sugar; do not drink sweetened green tea. However, if your taste buds cannot accept the bitterness in any way, as a last resort go for the Herbal replacement 'Stevia'.
